Too Much? How To Do Less & Enjoy More
TOO MUCH? HOW TO DO LESS & ENJOY MORE
Some of the biggest challenges to our mental and physical health emerge from having too much. In the U.S. today, many families have too much food (especially unhealthy foods), too many things to do, and too many sources of stress. Many of us have raised our expectations about what is required for a good life: larger houses, multiple cars, stylish clothes, eating out, and a plethora of electronics, including flat-screen TVs, computers, iPods, and mobile phones for everyone in the family. This abundance brings many gifts to our lives, but also many challenges.
In this sea of “too much,” it can be hard to align your family's daily life with your deepest values, especially as the holidays approach. You face daily pressure to do more (just one more wonderful holiday event) and buy more (for teachers, friends, relatives, children, coworkers, the needy, etc). It's not easy to set priorities and make mindful decisions about what matters most to your family—and then stick to them!
