COMMONS KIDS

Celebrating Real Kids • Summer Camp for Ages 5 – 7

Children face a lot of pressure in today's world. If they miss out on imaginative "play," they don't develop the cognitive, social and emotional skills needed for future achievement in school and other realms. Research shows that time spent in play and make believe helps children develop critical executive functioning skills. The ability to self-regulate, control impulses, & make good choices all have roots in children’s imaginative play.

Girl Talk: Coping with Discomfort & Worry in Relationships

Girl Talk: Coping with Discomfort & Worry in Relationships

Entering adolescence can be a stressful time for any girl. As their inner and outer worlds begin to change, girls face many unique challenges, including the pressure to be perfect, finding the right friends and conflicting media messages about food and beauty. This is the time to strengthen your daughter’s core sense of self. As children grow and develop, their capacity to engage in social relationships also changes. When they have more resources, such as increased communication and assertiveness skills, they can develop healthier friendships.
