Sharon Holly

Sharon Holly is a Yoga Instructor at The UCLA Family Commons. Her passion is working with children of all ages to teach them self-confidence and body awareness in a fun and nurturing environment. Sharon has completed mini yogis® foundation teacher training and advanced training for teaching teens/tweens. She currently teaches yoga in a wide range of settings (including private lessons), and she loves hearing how her students use yoga skills to calm themselves in everyday life. Sharon has practiced yoga for over ten years, but the recent loss of her brother moved her practice to a deeper level. In response to this loss, she feels an inner calling to spend as much time as possible teaching yoga to kids and families.

Besides yoga, Sharon loves walking on the beach, swimming, traveling, soccer and hiking. She has been a candid portrait photographer for over ten years, capturing those special moments between family members. She also makes long visits to her 8-year-old niece and 5-year-old nephew in the Midwest (who were her first yoga students!). Sharon is working on changing a tendency to procrastinate. Instead of putting off the more challenging tasks, she is experimenting with doing them first so she can spend more time doing the things she enjoys. She’s made peace, though, with the pleasure she takes in watching television every so often. There are a few shows she just really likes, and even a mini TV marathon, now and then, doesn’t seem to keep her from living a healthy, engaged life.
