Neal Kaufman, M.D.

Dr. Neal Kaufman is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of DPS Health, which uses the company's web-based platform to build interventions that support at-risk individuals in making healthy choices and preventing or managing many chronic illnesses. He is also Co-Founder of the UCLA Center for Healthier Children, Families and Communities and Professor of Pediatrics and Public Health at the UCLA Schools of Medicine and Public Health.

An experienced clinician and educator, Dr. Kaufman has also been a leader in local, state and national efforts to improve the health of children and families. He is an expert in a range of areas, including developing methods of educating patients and healthcare providers and delivering healthcare to high-risk and vulnerable women and children.

Dr. Kaufman has been married for 37 years, with three grown sons. Two biological children work with him in their family business, DPS Health, and one “near son” has, with his own family, lived with Dr. Kaufman and his wife for the past five years. In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Dr. Kaufman enjoys art and architecture, finding modern art both invigorating and relaxing at the same time. While healthy eating is important to him, he also believes firmly in the motto, “Everything in moderation, including moderation.” This leaves room for him to enjoy without guilt a few favorite unhealthy foods, especially chocolate. Dr. Kaufman is hoping to get more consistent about exercising. While he enjoys being physically active, and sometimes exercises a lot, there are other times when he gets out of the habit and doesn’t exercise as much as he would like.
