Harvey Karp, M.D., F.A.A.P.

Dr. Harvey Karp is a nationally renowned pediatrician, child development specialist and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at USC School of Medicine. He is best known for his best-selling books and DVDs, The Happiest Baby on the Block and The Happiest Toddler on the Block. They are among the most popular parenting books in America. There are now over 3,000 Happiest Baby educators across the country, teaching his techniques for soothing colic, boosting infant sleep, reducing tantrums, promoting patience and… making parents and children happy..

A practicing pediatrician in Los Angeles for over 25 years, Dr. Karp now commits his full-time efforts to writing, lecturing and education. His work has frequently been featured in the national press. Dr. Karp travels extensively across America and around the world teaching health professionals, educators and parents how to successfully meet the needs of young children. He is also very interested in children's environmental health issues and breastfeeding.

Dr. Karp is the father of a grown daughter, and he loves hiking, tennis, kayaking and reading about the evolution of human intelligence. He’s made his peace with a fondness for pizza, although he knows it doesn’t qualify as a health food. Dr. Karp does have a tendency to go to bed too late, and he’s hoping to change that habit soon.
