Dr. Dan Siegel is a child psychiatrist and internationally renowned speaker and teacher in the interface of neurobiology, psychiatry and mindful awareness. An award-winning educator, he is currently a clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine, where he is a Co-Investigator at the Center for Culture, Brain, and Development and Co-Director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center.

Dr. Siegel is also Executive Director of the Mindsight Institute, an educational organization that focuses on how the development of insight, compassion and empathy in individuals, families and communities can be enhanced by examining the interface of human relationships and basic biological processes. He is author and co-author of several books including: The Developing Mind: Toward a Neurobiology of Interpersonal Experience; Parenting from the Inside-Out: How a Deeper Self-Understanding Can Help You Raise Children Who Thrive; and The Mindful Brain. His next book, Mindsight: The New Science of Personal Transformation, is due out in December 2009.
