Beatrice Lange

Beatrice Lange

Beatrice served as an International Intern at The UCLA Family Commons from February to April 2010. She studies Educational and Social Science at the University of Hildesheim (Germany), and she is aiming for her bachelor degree in 2011.

In 2007, she took a gap year to volunteer at Women for Peace, a nonprofit organization in Cape Town, South Africa. During her stay she lived and worked in Mfuleni Township, where she was involved in an afterschool program for disadvantaged youth and helped to manage and plan other projects at Women for Peace. One of those was Global Buddies, the Family Commons’ volunteer travel and cultural exchange program.

Beatrice has played the violin for over 16 years, including time with the Bremen Youth Symphony Orchestra as Violinist and Concertmaster. Born in Durban, South Africa, and the youngest of three, with two older sisters, Beatrice is proudly half French and half German. She loves being organized, and can imagine herself working in an organization like Women for Peace or The UCLA Family Commons one day. She is passionate about intercultural experiences and continues to work hard at improving her English skills, as well as her French and Spanish. During her stay in Los Angeles, Beatrice discovered that a tall latte from Starbucks made a great treat on a working day... especially if it was followed by a bike ride along beautiful Venice Beach!
